Step into Leadership with Our CIT Program Take your skills to the next level, gain valuable training, and spend an unforgettable summer forging lifelong friendships as part of a dedicated team! What Is the CIT Program? Counselors-in-Training (CITs) live alongside campers and counselors in cabins, gaining hands-on experience in group management and wilderness skills. Designed for teens seeking leadership opportunities, this program is ideal for those interested in becoming future camp instructors. Program Overview: • Minimum Commitment: CITs must attend camp for at least four consecutive weeks. • Week 1: Shadow staff and peers, observe facilitation techniques, and assist with group activities. • Week 2: Transition to active facilitation with Forest Overnight Camp, working closely with staff and campers. • Curriculum Design: Participate in daily planning meetings to learn how to design and adapt activities based on factors like weather or new opportunities. • Dual Roles: CITs act as both participants (practicing skills with the group) and assistants (leading activities under instructor guidance). • Solo Overnight Experience: Develop self-reliance during a supervised 24-hour solo experience, managing your own needs and honing survival skills. Why Join the CIT Program? This program provides invaluable leadership training, fosters personal growth, and prepares participants for future roles as camp instructors. CITs engage fully in camp life, including activities, meals, and overnights, while building strong connections with their peers and staff. Preference for filled weeks is given to former campers, but all applicants are welcome. Key Details: • Schedule: The CIT program begins with Sunday drop-off and concludes with Saturday pick-up. • Application Process: Interested candidates should email their applications to us. Spots are limited, so apply early to secure your place in this transformative experience!
