About This Activity
Description
This class is an introduction to fundamental swimming skills and water safety. Students will learn: how to enter and exit water using ladder, steps, side or ramps; bobbing and rotary breathing; to open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects independently; front and back glides and back float and recover to vertical; roll from front to back and back to front, tread water using arm and hand actions; alternating and simultaneous arm and leg actions on front/back; combined arm/leg actions on front/back and staying safe around aquatic environments. The goal is for students to have rudimentary stroke on the front a back, swimming without the aid from an instructor or lifejacket.
There will be no classes the week of March 24-30 due to DPS Spring Break. The classes will still run for four weeks, with a week break during that time.
