With just 1 hour, twice a week, your child will receive explicit, tailored lessons in a supportive setting. Led by a talented Reading Specialist with extensive structured literacy training, these paired tutoring sessions will ensure your child receives the proper instruction for better reading, writing and spelling. Learning will occur through hands-on activities, lively discussions, and direct instruction. Skills covered may include, depending on the specific needs of each student: - Phonemic awareness - Decoding review - Explicit phonics instruction - Decoding/Encoding with each new skill taught - Explicit instruction with irregular words (reading and spelling them) - Reading connected text (decodable) - Sentence dictation (decodable and irregular words) - Practice with taught skills for automaticity This practical, yet engaging, application of the concepts will help your child start 2nd grade in the fall with less stress and more assurance, all while making a new friend!
