About This Activity
Description
We're sorry, but this class/activity is over. The last meeting was Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
At the Y, our Youth Volleyball helps children ages 12 to 16 years old develop fundamental volleyball skills while teaching teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Participants will have the opportunity to learn underhand serving, setting, hitting, and digging.
Meeting Dates
The volleyball players will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. This is a skill development program, and therefore will not follow a typical league format.
***ALL TIMES AND DAYS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON REGISTRATION NUMBERS AND NUMBER OF COACHES AND THEIR AVAILABILITY***
FOR YOUR SAFETY
We ask parents to check their child’s temperature before bringing their child to practices. At a minimum but not limited to; children with fevers, coughing, sore throats, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste or smell cannot participate in practices until cleared by a medical professional or are healthy for 48 hours after symptoms.
A verbal wellness check will be conducted when entering the building by staff. Coaches will also conduct a verbal wellness check at the beginning of each practice.
Ensure your child’s gear and equipment is sanitized before and after every practice.
Notify the YMCA Sports Director or head coach immediately if your child becomes ill.
Please have your child wear athletic clothes and closed-toed shoes. Every child needs to bring their own water bottle and volleyball. Knee pads are suggested, but not required. Please clearly label all items you send with your child.
Spectators should bring a chair to use when watching the practices. Please do not bring food into the gym, and all liquids should be in a plastic bottle that have a secure cap.
Volunteer Opportunities
YMCA sports are based on seven guiding principles: everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement. Our clinics are supported by parent volunteers who are engaged as coaches, referees, and fans.
If you are interested in being a volunteer this season, please contact Jayde Doucette at jdoucette@suncoastymca.org. There is also an area for you to indicate your volunteer interest when you are registering your child.
