PREREQUISITE - FOUNDATIONS OF HORSEMANSHIP: Rider is someone who may have only been ponied on a horse, has been on a trail horse or has completed Robinson Ranch’s Foundations class or demonstrated the knowledge to pass Foundations. S/he is learning to perfect their ground work with the horse. How to catch the horse, halter it properly, lead it (butterfly wings), tie the safety knot, grooming tools and how they are used, etc. If the student exhibits mastery, they will start beginning riding by working on balance, how to control a horse at a walk in a straight line and through turns; simple change of direction; to stop a horse with ease. groom their horse without assistance; safe horse spacing; and approach and halter a horse in a stall.
