About This Activity
Description
Dancers in this level will work on movement fundamentals as well as how to follow directions, work within a group, and be a part of a class. This class is the beginning of formalized ballet classes. Your little dancer will learn spatial awareness and musicality, as well as some ballet French terminology and ballet movements and steps. Dancers at this stage still learn in a creative atmosphere and do not yet use the ballet barre, but instead learn to music in the center of the room focusing on one movement at a time. By the end of Primary ballet, students will be learning to put steps and movements together. Weehawken Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® NATIONAL TRAINING CURRICULUM, a breakthrough 8 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
Please check the dance resources page on our website for information on what your dancer will need for this class, including uniform, tights and shoes in addition to dates to remember.
