CITs gain valuable training and experience by providing support to instructors and group leaders at camp. They work with children in a camp setting, developing leadership skills in a hands-on way while under supervision. The CIT is an unpaid volunteer position that can serve to qualify for becoming a paid camp staff member. The goal of the program is to develop leadership skills and gain basic job/work experience that can be applied to all aspects of life and utilized in any future career. CITs are partnered with experienced counselors to guide groups of campers through camp activities that are developed by instructors. CITs are supervised by the Camp Director. CITs will be placed into camps based on camp need and availability. Camps in need of CITs Week 1: Ceramics & Studio Art, Cooking Asian Food, Dancing Through Life!, Explorers, Explorers Junior, Get Wild!, Get Wild! Junior, Imagine & Build, LEGO Free Play, Sports Kids, Stitch Lab - The Sewing Box, Young Actor's Camp Lunch and Bus Service are available for FREE to SD CITs for the week that they attend camp. CITs who register will be subject to a phone interview and must attend a mandatory orientation in May or June (date is TBD).
