About This Activity
Description
Kathryn “Kat” Johnson was born in Wichita Falls in the late 90s andher start into the world of arts began at age 4 in her church choir. Throughoutsecondary school Kat participated in local theatre productions at bothBackdoor Theatre and Wichita Theatre. Here is a list of shows and years sheperformed; Pippin 2018, Avenue Q 2017, Rock of Ages 2016, Les Miserables2015, CATS 2014, Chicago 2013, and Hairspray 2011. Kat began her dance careerin 2013 at Dance Etc. of Wichita Falls, participated in Raiderettes during highschool, then began dancing with the Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre in 2015. In2018 she trained at the Collegiate Summer Intensive with the American BalletTheatre in New York City where her ballet technique and knowledge wasrefined.Kat’s dance teaching journey began in 2014 as a Class Assistant at StarsDance Studio. In 2016 she began teaching at Wichita Falls Youth Ballet andteaches there presently. Kat has taught as a Teaching Artist with the WichitaFalls Alliance for Arts and Culture and after-school dance programs at ChristAcademy and various elementary schools. She has taught every dance style,but her favorites are tap and ballet. In 2022, Kat opened On Your ToesDancewear, LLC. Located in Wichita Falls, this dancewear store brings qualitydance apparel, trusted brand names, and expert advice with each transaction.She is very excited to begin sharing her dance knowledge through PhoenixDance Studio and hopes to inspire anyone who is ready to start dancing.
